Fipple flute

The fipple flute from Canada is a simple whistle that plays only one note. A stream of air directed at the sharp edge of the whistle vibrates to make the sound. The pitch is set by the amount of air in its hollow body.

To make it, a piece of wood was split lengthways, carved to form the whistle and the hollow body, then glued back together.
