Erh Hu

The erh-hu is a two-stringed fiddle from China, played with a bow that goes between the strings. The rough horse hair of the bow makes the strings vibrate. The strings rest on a bridge at the centre of a snakeskin drum which amplifies the sound. Simple wooden tuning pegs adjust the string tension. A loop of string around the neck changes the pitch of one of the strings.
