Moulding
Important fossils have exact copies made for study and display. This is done by making a mould of them. The fossil Angela is working on is the end of a large Sauropod's femur (leg bone). It was found exposed on the surface, so is not as well preserved as Kerry's crocodile. This piece has been glued together and Angela is now filling all the cavities before making the mould.

Now the top of the fossil has been covered with latex. Once several layers have been applied and set, it will be turned over and have the other half of the mould made.
On Angela's work bench are electronic scales for measuring glue & latex mixtures and a milkshake maker for mixing them.
